The sequence applied to the winch maintenance
The order below reproduces how the work was actually carried out, including the points where the condition found required a change of scope.
- Strip-down and inspection. The winch assembly was stripped down to assess the condition of the components, with the mechanical components inspected and the items needing maintenance, replacement or adjustment identified.
- Assessment of the braking system. The double band brake assembly was assessed to define the maintenance required and the wear elements to be replaced.
- Replacement of the brake linings. The brake linings were replaced, and the brake assembly received the necessary maintenance and adjustment.
- Pneumatic actuation. The pneumatic actuation system was checked, and the components involved in the actuation were adjusted.
- Reassembly. With the maintenance complete, the equipment was reassembled.
- Operational check and functional testing. After reassembly, the operation of the assembly was checked and the equipment went through functional testing.
Result
What the intervention delivered
The work focused on restoring the operating condition of the equipment, ensuring the correct operation of the winch braking system and actuation. It went well beyond replacing the linings: the intervention covered strip-down, inspection, maintenance of the brake assembly, adjustment of the pneumatic actuation and reassembly; finally, the equipment went through checks and functional testing to confirm the assembly was working properly.
