The order below reproduces how the work was actually carried out, including the points where the condition found required a change of scope.
- Inspection on site and agreement of the strip-down scope with the ship's crew.
- Strip-down of the assembly and transport of the components to the workshop.
- Recovery of the drum by weld build-up and re-machining of the wire seating surfaces.
- Recovery of the main shaft and full replacement of the bearings.
- Gearbox overhaul with bearings, seals and oil replaced.
- Overhaul of the hydraulic motor and inspection of the control block, which identified the valve responsible for the intermittent locking.
- Blasting, painting to a scheme suited to a salt environment, and reassembly.
- Functional test in the workshop, reinstallation on board and a recorded load test.
