Objective

The problem that prompted the intervention

The valve was passing internally because the seat had eroded. Replacing the body would have meant high cost and a delivery time that did not fit the plant's needs.

Execution

The order below reproduces how the work was actually carried out, including the points where the condition found required a change of scope.

  1. Inspection of the seat and assessment of the extent of erosion, to confirm that recovery was feasible.
  2. Welding procedure specified, with a consumable compatible with the body material and the working fluid.
  3. Area prepared, preheated and built up by welding with interpass temperature control.
  4. Post-weld heat treatment in line with the procedure.
  5. Finish machining of the seat to the original dimension and surface finish.
  6. Reassembly and recorded leak test.
