The order below reproduces how the work was actually carried out, including the points where the condition found required a change of scope.
- Complete strip-down with the condition of each component recorded.
- Dimensional inspection of the tubes, which were oval beyond tolerance.
- Tubes honed to restore roundness and a surface finish suited to the seals.
- Rods ground, damaged chrome removed, re-chromed and finish ground.
- Complete replacement of the seal set with elements compatible with the fluid and the working pressure.
- Reassembly, leak testing and a hold test under load, with the hold time recorded.
