Objective

The problem that prompted the intervention

The system was suffering repeated proportional valve failures, with component after component replaced without the cause being eliminated. The cost of replacements had already passed that of a full intervention on the system.

Execution

The sequence applied and the engineering decisions taken

The order below reproduces how the work was actually carried out, including the points where the condition found required a change of scope.

  1. Samples taken and analysed at different points of the circuit to locate the source of the contamination.
  2. Acceptance criteria defined from the specification of the proportional valves installed.
  3. Sensitive components isolated and flushing loops installed.
  4. Flushing carried out in turbulent flow, with periodic sampling and the progress recorded.
  5. Complete replacement of the fluid and the filter elements.
  6. Overhaul of the filtration system, which had been sized below the real working duty.
  7. Report handed over with the measured progress and a recommended monitoring plan.
